Learn more about the missions ministry of 3Cs through the United Methodist Church.

The General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) is the global mission agency of The United Methodist Church. GBGM helps to connecting the local church in mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ, strengthen, develop, and renew Christian congregations and communities, alleviate human suffering, seek justice, freedom, and peace.

One of the ways that GBGM accomplishes its goals is through United Methodist Volunteer in Mission teams, UMVIM. UMVIM is a grassroots movement within The United Methodist Church designed to provide an official channel whereby Christians, both lay and clergy, may offer their skills and talents for Christian service at home and around the world on short term assignments at their own expense.

UMVIM work includes construction and renewing of mission facilities, teaching, witnessing, conducting medical clinics, conducting Bible study or Bible School for children, and serving in disaster relief efforts around the world. There are more than 125,000 volunteers serving through UMVWIM with the poor; building churches; and assisting in disaster response, community health, and leadership training each year.

The 3Cs Mission is a grassroots ministry of the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church. Through relationships we are involved in clinics, classrooms and churches in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Russia, and Zimbabwe.

Through UMVIM and the 3Cs, you can serve with a team (typically 10-16 persons) or as an individual. Volunteers need to be in relatively good health, completes an application form, willing to pay his/her own way or help to raise team funds, and agree to attend training sessions conducted by the team leader prior to departure.
